July 12, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3856 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1656 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3474 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Annaly Capital Management Inc (NYSE:NLY), Iron Mountain Inc (NYSE:IRM), Waste Management Inc (NYSE:WM), Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX), Quantum Corp (NYSE:QTM), Primero Mining Corp (NYSE:P). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NLY $0.020 0.12% 2,738,561 26.51% 3,737,501 36.18% -998,940 Abnormal
  IRM $0.040 0.13% 521,705 19.24% 1,337,005 49.32% -815,300 Abnormal
  WM $0.230 0.73% 1,938,618 27.99% 2,935,579 42.38% -996,961 Abnormal
  CVX $0.250 0.24% 1,635,413 21.01% 2,150,009 27.61% -514,596 Abnormal
  QTM $0.010 0.71% 1,614,569 28.33% 3,354,928 58.87% -1,740,359 Abnormal
  P $0.420 4.22% 2,541,735 30.58% 3,362,297 40.46% -820,562 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NLY with 998,940 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
