July 12, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3856 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1656 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3474 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. Baxter International Inc (NYSE:BAX), Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO), Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT), Safeway Inc (NYSE:SWY), Cal Dive International Inc (NYSE:DVR), Itau Unibanco Holding SA (NYSE:ITUB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  BAX $-0.110 -0.20% 3,434,061 67.38% 681,613 13.37% 2,752,448 Abnormal
  CSCO $-0.320 -1.97% 35,471,071 50.77% 33,881,702 48.49% 1,589,369 Abnormal
  MSFT $-0.700 -2.39% 32,463,383 51.44% 30,592,723 48.48% 1,870,660 Abnormal
  SWY $-2.150 -11.96% 9,145,365 33.32% 7,238,754 26.37% 1,906,611 Abnormal
  DVR $-0.970 -34.15% 7,596,895 38.75% 5,875,569 29.97% 1,721,326 Abnormal
  ITUB $-0.130 -0.91% 4,254,584 30.07% 2,955,931 20.89% 1,298,653 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BAX with 2,752,448 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.11000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
