July 11, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3839 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2221 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2979 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Telik Inc (NASDAQ:TELK), Audiovox Corp (NASDAQ:VOXX), Goldfield Corp (AMEX:GV), Origin Agritech Ltd (NASDAQ:SEED), HHGREGG Inc (NYSE:HGG), Calix Inc (NYSE:CALX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  TELK $-0.330 -13.87% 71,413 37.96% 116,715 62.04% -45,302 -1,373
  VOXX $-1.600 -16.36% 408,731 45.91% 480,331 53.95% -71,600 -448
  GV $-0.320 -12.55% 143,187 35.97% 148,167 37.22% -4,980 -156
  SEED $-0.220 -12.87% 226,978 46.05% 265,775 53.93% -38,797 -1,764
  HGG $-4.220 -36.57% 2,198,511 32.09% 2,811,120 41.03% -612,609 -1,452
  CALX $-0.930 -12.90% 346,628 28.60% 426,487 35.18% -79,859 -859
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TELK with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.33000 and a Friction Factor of -1,373 shares. That means that it only took 1,373 more shares of selling than buying to move TELK lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
