June 18, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3705 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3054 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2497 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Interdigital Inc (NASDAQ:IDCC), Genetic Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ:GENE), INTL TOWER HILL MINES LTD (AMEX:THM), ROSETTA GENOMICS LTD (NASDAQ:ROSG), PATRIOT COAL CORP (NYSE:PCX), (NYSE:UGAZ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  IDCC $6.320 27.62% 3,657,327 49.87% 3,437,949 46.88% 219,378 347
  GENE $0.860 25.60% 630,829 53.29% 547,353 46.24% 83,476 971
  THM $0.510 19.10% 165,115 33.41% 121,298 24.54% 43,817 859
  ROSG $4.800 50.90% 1,745,278 53.60% 1,478,173 45.40% 267,105 556
  PCX $0.240 19.20% 4,430,342 37.04% 3,700,004 30.93% 730,338 30,431
  UGAZ $4.230 20.24% 66,742 29.17% 54,052 23.62% 12,690 30
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows IDCC with a dollar gain Monday of $6.32000 and a Friction Factor of 347 shares. That means that it only took 347 more shares of buying than selling to move IDCC higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
