June 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3583 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3360 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2152 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Friday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SARA LEE CORP (NYSE:SLE), ARCH COAL INC (NYSE:ACI), Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORCL), PACIFIC BIOSCIENCES OF CALIF (NASDAQ:PACB), NYSE Euronext (NYSE:NYX), IC PLACES INC (OTC:ICPA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SLE $-0.160 -0.79% 4,296,779 25.22% 6,411,149 37.64% -2,114,370 -132,148
  ACI $-0.050 -0.83% 3,618,526 29.31% 4,630,423 37.51% -1,011,897 -202,379
  ORCL $-0.020 -0.07% 10,600,801 47.53% 11,583,438 51.93% -982,637 -491,319
  PACB $-0.050 -2.50% 208,193 6.03% 3,241,775 93.97% -3,033,582 -606,716
  NYX $-0.170 -0.69% 795,064 11.75% 4,541,112 67.14% -3,746,048 -220,356
  ICPA $-0.012 -23.48% 2,796,530 36.79% 4,805,705 63.21% -2,009,175 -1,620,302
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SLE down $-0.16000 with a Friction Factor of -132,148 and a Net Volume of -2,114,370. That means that it takes 132,148 more shares of selling than buying to drop SLE by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
