June 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3583 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3360 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2152 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. COVER-ALL TECHNOLOGIES INC (AMEX:COVR), TRANSWITCH CORP (NASDAQ:TXCC), NOVELOS THERAPEUTICS INC (OTC:NVLT), IMMUNOCELLULAR THERAPEUTICS (OTCBB:IMUC), IDENTIVE GROUP INC (NASDAQ:INVE), (AMEX:XG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  COVR $-0.160 -11.94% 33,661 22.77% 35,232 23.83% -1,571 -98
  TXCC $-0.150 -10.27% 88,880 42.50% 120,253 57.50% -31,373 -2,092
  NVLT $-0.520 -30.77% 34,280 5.46% 538,881 85.83% -504,601 -9,704
  IMUC $-0.440 -11.89% 781,208 32.02% 939,812 38.52% -158,604 -3,605
  INVE $-0.120 -10.98% 246,129 37.42% 411,591 62.58% -165,462 -13,789
  XG $-0.360 -12.00% 59,839 26.00% 69,502 30.20% -9,663 -268
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows COVR with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.16000 and a Friction Factor of -98 shares. That means that it only took 98 more shares of selling than buying to move COVR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
