June 4, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3905 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2270 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3250 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Multiband Corp (NASDAQ:MBND), Synthesis Energy Systems Inc (NASDAQ:SYMX), Smart Balance Inc (NASDAQ:SMBL), REED'S INC (NASDAQ:REED), DYNAVOX INC-CLASS A (NASDAQ:DVOX), Zalicus Inc (NASDAQ:ZLCS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MBND $0.240 12.57% 46,354 61.29% 29,180 38.58% 17,174 716
  SYMX $0.160 16.00% 49,625 60.81% 31,977 39.19% 17,648 1,103
  SMBL $0.920 15.16% 769,416 53.08% 673,822 46.49% 95,594 1,039
  REED $0.390 12.20% 236,492 55.41% 183,296 42.95% 53,196 1,364
  DVOX $0.250 20.16% 49,815 55.94% 39,233 44.06% 10,582 423
  ZLCS $0.220 24.10% 2,659,535 57.07% 2,000,689 42.93% 658,846 29,948
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MBND with a dollar gain Monday of $0.24000 and a Friction Factor of 716 shares. That means that it only took 716 more shares of buying than selling to move MBND higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
