May 31, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3786 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2608 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3054 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Microvision Inc (NASDAQ:MVIS), BON-TON STORES INC/THE (NASDAQ:BONT), Endeavour International Corp (NYSE:END), Ciena Corp (NASDAQ:CIEN), THERAGENICS CORP (NYSE:TGX), IMMUNOCELLULAR THERAPEUTICS (OTCBB:IMUC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MVIS $0.730 38.22% 2,770,639 52.92% 2,447,859 46.75% 322,780 4,422
  BONT $0.610 13.12% 308,742 52.08% 283,755 47.87% 24,987 410
  END $4.130 70.48% 2,650,927 34.43% 2,380,649 30.92% 270,278 654
  CIEN $1.630 13.72% 10,890,806 51.79% 10,091,827 47.99% 798,979 4,902
  TGX $0.240 14.37% 99,216 55.05% 38,875 21.57% 60,341 2,514
  IMUC $0.430 13.11% 564,506 29.47% 508,611 26.55% 55,895 1,300
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MVIS with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.73000 and a Friction Factor of 4,422 shares. That means that it only took 4,422 more shares of buying than selling to move MVIS higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
