May 21, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3593 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3882 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1727 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ZOOM TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ZOOM), COOPER INDUSTRIES PLC (NYSE:CBE), Uroplasty Inc (AMEX:UPI), UNION DRILLING INC (NASDAQ:UDRL), EFUTURE INFORMATION TECHNOLO (NASDAQ:EFUT), ROSETTA GENOMICS LTD (NASDAQ:ROSG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ZOOM $0.210 18.92% 194,330 55.29% 109,631 31.19% 84,699 4,033 CBE $14.470 25.91% 7,787,587 30.26% 6,957,902 27.04% 829,685 573 UPI $0.500 18.18% 153,514 67.44% 73,722 32.39% 79,792 1,596 UDRL $0.780 19.60% 130,085 54.80% 105,422 44.41% 24,663 316 EFUT $0.850 21.09% 217,824 49.55% 202,233 46.01% 15,591 183 ROSG $1.500 27.27% 2,195,562 50.34% 2,093,230 47.99% 102,332 682Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ZOOM with a dollar gain Monday of $0.21000 and a Friction Factor of 4,033 shares. That means that it only took 4,033 more shares of buying than selling to move ZOOM higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
