May 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3836 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1806 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4019 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), SARA LEE CORP (NYSE:SLE), CISCO SYSTEMS INCORPORATED (NASDAQ:CSCO), GSI GROUP INC (NASDAQ:GSIG), NANOSPHERE INC (NASDAQ:NSPH), (OTC:GTRL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PFE $0.210 0.94% 10,076,262 25.53% 12,299,266 31.16% -2,223,004 Abnormal
  SLE $0.060 0.28% 2,055,132 22.57% 4,826,873 53.01% -2,771,741 Abnormal
  CSCO $0.130 0.79% 25,623,747 44.33% 31,758,296 54.95% -6,134,549 Abnormal
  GSIG $0.080 0.67% 291,525 5.06% 5,372,059 93.18% -5,080,534 Abnormal
  NSPH $0.050 3.12% 37,425 0.76% 4,855,466 99.24% -4,818,041 Abnormal
  GTRL $0.010 22.22% 2,083,566 25.08% 6,239,133 75.09% -4,155,567 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PFE with 2,223,004 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.21000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
