May 14, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3584 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1333 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4711 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. Vera Bradley Inc (NASDAQ:VRA), BOSTON BEER COMPANY INC-A (NYSE:SAM), QUICKLOGIC CORP (NASDAQ:QUIK), ORMAT TECHNOLOGIES INC (NYSE:ORA), DELIA*S INC (NASDAQ:DLIA), HIMAX TECHNOLOGIES INC-ADR (NASDAQ:HIMX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  VRA $0.150 0.64% 322,472 54.38% 268,104 45.21% 54,368 3,625
  SAM $0.640 0.59% 76,106 45.17% 51,686 30.67% 24,420 382
  QUIK $0.080 2.29% 80,640 53.23% 70,841 46.77% 9,799 1,225
  ORA $0.520 2.44% 108,475 39.80% 86,632 31.79% 21,843 420
  DLIA $0.060 4.11% 44,044 62.04% 26,949 37.96% 17,095 2,849
  HIMX $0.020 0.96% 199,694 51.03% 191,646 48.97% 8,048 4,024
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows VRA with a dollar gain Monday of $0.15000 and a Friction Factor of 3,625 shares. That means that it only took 3,625 more shares of buying than selling to move VRA higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
