May 14, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3584 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1333 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4711 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY (NYSE:GE), U.S. BANCORP (NYSE:USB), AT&T INC (NYSE:T), JPMORGAN CHASE & CO. (NYSE:JPM), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Vale SA (NYSE:VALE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GE $-0.420 -2.21% 15,756,089 33.69% 10,695,421 22.87% 5,060,668 Abnormal
  USB $-0.650 -2.02% 5,672,321 45.93% 2,213,008 17.92% 3,459,313 Abnormal
  T $-0.060 -0.18% 11,590,101 38.65% 7,377,243 24.60% 4,212,858 Abnormal
  JPM $-1.120 -3.03% 29,802,479 31.18% 25,741,212 26.94% 4,061,267 Abnormal
  MSFT $-0.430 -1.38% 22,811,395 56.55% 17,389,664 43.11% 5,421,731 Abnormal
  VALE $-0.720 -3.60% 8,604,456 33.11% 5,034,459 19.37% 3,569,997 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GE with 5,060,668 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.42000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
