May 8, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3949 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1902 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3801 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Sun Healthcare Group Inc (NASDAQ:SUNH), AVALON RARE METALS INC (AMEX:AVL), ID SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:IDSY), FURMANITE CORP (NYSE:FRM), JAGUAR MINING INC (NYSE:JAG), CHINA VALVES TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:CVVT). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SUNH $-1.180 -16.86% 564,662 45.03% 617,439 49.24% -52,777 -447 AVL $-0.530 -23.98% 713,454 27.53% 1,034,744 39.93% -321,290 -6,062 IDSY $-1.020 -18.31% 152,773 47.12% 170,361 52.54% -17,588 -172 FRM $-1.500 -25.00% 190,021 31.69% 212,184 35.39% -22,163 -148 JAG $-0.780 -35.14% 2,339,027 28.11% 2,978,584 35.80% -639,557 -8,199 CVVT $-0.370 -18.23% 167,312 39.79% 253,150 60.21% -85,838 -2,320Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SUNH with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-1.18000 and a Friction Factor of -447 shares. That means that it only took 447 more shares of selling than buying to move SUNH lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
