May 1, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3839 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2964 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2820 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BLUEPHOENIX SOLUTIONS LTD (NASDAQ:BPHX), VEECO INSTRUMENTS INC (NASDAQ:VECO), PLX TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:PLXT), Avis Budget Group Inc (NYSE:CAR), EasyLink Services International Corp (NASDAQ:ESIC), NF ENERGY SAVING CORP (OTCBB:NFEC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BPHX $0.320 17.39% 64,677 56.04% 49,829 43.18% 14,848 464 VECO $4.630 15.34% 3,506,622 54.53% 2,884,404 44.85% 622,218 1,344 PLXT $2.680 67.34% 2,978,961 54.48% 2,459,706 44.98% 519,255 1,938 CAR $2.360 17.91% 4,678,572 51.30% 4,461,179 48.92% 217,393 921 ESIC $1.260 21.36% 674,263 72.66% 253,710 27.34% 420,553 3,338 NFEC $0.360 18.65% 207,503 57.83% 151,100 42.11% 56,403 1,567Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BPHX with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.32000 and a Friction Factor of 464 shares. That means that it only took 464 more shares of buying than selling to move BPHX higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
