April 27, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3782 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3566 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2150 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. AWARE INC/MASS (NASDAQ:AWRE), ABAXIS, INC. (NASDAQ:ABAX), Mbt Financial Corp (NASDAQ:MBTF), ARENA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ARNA), VIMICRO INTERNATIONAL CO-ADR (NASDAQ:VIMC), (OTCBB:SEFE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  AWRE $2.410 64.44% 377,777 48.78% 372,505 48.09% 5,272 22
  ABAX $6.220 20.86% 290,733 57.20% 210,716 41.46% 80,017 129
  MBTF $0.450 18.37% 129,690 61.31% 81,844 38.69% 47,846 1,063
  ARNA $0.470 21.86% 17,609,567 53.34% 15,383,239 46.59% 2,226,328 47,369
  VIMC $0.220 17.46% 773,105 52.66% 688,818 46.92% 84,287 3,831
  SEFE $0.300 17.86% 3,824,902 52.47% 3,094,653 42.46% 730,249 24,342
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AWRE with a dollar gain Friday of $2.41000 and a Friction Factor of 22 shares. That means that it only took 22 more shares of buying than selling to move AWRE higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
