April 24, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3734 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3307 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2402 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. IFM INVESTMENTS LTD-ADS (NYSE:CTC), UNIFI, INC. (NYSE:UFI), FIRST MARBLEHEAD CORP/THE (NYSE:FMD), INDEPENDENT BANK CORP - MICH (NASDAQ:IBCP), JMG EXPLORATION INC (OTC:JMGE), China Information Tech Incorporated (NASDAQ:CNIT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CTC $0.360 22.22% 81,420 36.78% 62,541 28.25% 18,879 524 UFI $1.560 17.01% 73,530 52.99% 36,063 25.99% 37,467 240 FMD $0.170 18.45% 82,464 65.27% 28,212 22.33% 54,252 3,191 IBCP $0.700 29.91% 318,179 52.26% 276,592 45.43% 41,587 594 JMGE $0.270 21.60% 66,922 36.82% 51,807 28.51% 15,115 560 CNIT $0.360 29.27% 533,240 55.41% 426,725 44.34% 106,515 2,959Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CTC with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.36000 and a Friction Factor of 524 shares. That means that it only took 524 more shares of buying than selling to move CTC higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
