April 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3714 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1568 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4220 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Otelco Inc (NASDAQ:OTT), TIO Networks Corp (NYSE:TNC), BIG LOTS, INC. (NYSE:BIG), LATITUDE SOLUTIONS INC (OTC:LATI), DIALOGIC INC (NASDAQ:DLGC), (NYSE:DDMG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  OTT $-5.410 -44.97% 797,864 39.51% 1,236,596 61.23% -438,732 -811
  TNC $-6.150 -12.86% 157,113 29.51% 162,039 30.43% -4,926 -8
  BIG $-5.870 -12.80% 316,756 28.15% 326,302 29.00% -9,546 -16
  LATI $-0.190 -15.70% 99,502 24.57% 293,398 72.46% -193,896 -10,205
  DLGC $-0.170 -12.80% 63,082 46.32% 73,012 53.61% -9,930 -584
  DDMG $-0.800 -10.60% 78,306 25.67% 112,260 36.80% -33,954 -424
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows OTT with a dollar loss Monday of $-5.41000 and a Friction Factor of -811 shares. That means that it only took 811 more shares of selling than buying to move OTT lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
