Market Maker Surveillance Report. SMSI, NEON, OPHC, USAT, ESSX, VRNG, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Monday, Ap
April 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3736 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2823 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3077 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SMITH MICRO SOFTWARE INC (NASDAQ:SMSI), NEONODE INC (NASDAQ:NEON), OPTIMUMBANK HOLDINGS INC (NASDAQ:OPHC), USA TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:USAT), ESSEX RENTAL CORP (OTCBB:ESSX), VRINGO INC (AMEX:VRNG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SMSI $0.270 15.17% 447,096 59.30% 304,861 40.43% 142,235 5,268 NEON $0.480 16.00% 101,552 72.29% 36,933 26.29% 64,619 1,346 OPHC $0.600 30.00% 308,982 51.20% 268,085 44.43% 40,897 682 USAT $0.250 18.25% 833,776 51.08% 798,422 48.92% 35,354 1,414 ESSX $0.490 14.37% 65,415 52.01% 59,475 47.29% 5,940 121 VRNG $0.990 32.57% 6,253,713 33.02% 6,153,481 32.49% 100,232 1,012Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SMSI with a dollar gain Monday of $0.27000 and a Friction Factor of 5,268 shares. That means that it only took 5,268 more shares of buying than selling to move SMSI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
