April 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3736 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2823 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3077 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Monday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI), AVON PRODUCTS INC (NYSE:AVP), SPECTRA ENERGY CORP (NYSE:SE), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), VONAGE HOLDINGS CORP (NYSE:VG), TAPIMMUNE INC (OTCBB:TPIV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  SIRI $-0.060 -2.69% 25,397,169 41.50% 35,803,590 58.51% -10,406,421 -1,734,404
  AVP $-0.580 -2.47% 1,851,107 18.67% 4,780,529 48.22% -2,929,422 -50,507
  SE $-0.310 -1.02% 882,125 13.97% 4,007,524 63.47% -3,125,399 -100,819
  S $-0.140 -5.22% 13,476,160 24.26% 23,860,155 42.96% -10,383,995 -741,714
  VG $-0.050 -2.45% 477,199 13.66% 2,647,661 75.77% -2,170,462 -434,092
  TPIV $-0.045 -16.82% 982,291 26.87% 2,674,025 73.13% -1,691,734 -380,165
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SIRI down $-0.06000 with a Friction Factor of -1,734,404 and a Net Volume of -10,406,421. That means that it takes 1,734,404 more shares of selling than buying to drop SIRI by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
