April 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3736 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2823 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3077 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. NOMURA HOLDINGS INC-ADR (NYSE:NMR), DREAMS INC (AMEX:DRJ), WELLS FARGO & CO (NYSE:WFC), Europe Fund Inc (NYSE:EF), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Oracle Corp (NASDAQ:ORCL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  NMR $0.050 1.18% 1,473,949 38.04% 3,826,029 98.75% -2,352,080 Abnormal
  DRJ $0.780 29.89% 1,707,180 12.25% 10,194,503 73.13% -8,487,323 Abnormal
  WFC $0.310 0.94% 6,819,609 23.04% 9,825,908 33.19% -3,006,299 Abnormal
  EF $2.560 41.37% 5,999,904 35.87% 10,814,638 64.66% -4,814,734 Abnormal
  MSFT $0.290 0.94% 17,588,950 46.23% 20,080,198 52.78% -2,491,248 Abnormal
  ORCL $0.140 0.47% 9,612,727 44.83% 11,762,066 54.86% -2,149,339 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NMR with 2,352,080 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
