April 16, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3736 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2823 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3077 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. GOOD TIMES RESTAURANTS INC (NASDAQ:GTIM), E-COMMERCE CHINA-SPON ADR (NYSE:DANG), REPSOL YPF SA (OTC:REPYF), Spreadtrum Communications Inc (NASDAQ:SPRD), LUCAS ENERGY INC (AMEX:LEI), NEWLEAD HOLDINGS LTD (NASDAQ:NEWL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction GTIM $-0.400 -19.32% 102,900 47.31% 113,696 52.27% -10,796 -270 DANG $-1.560 -15.31% 2,760,939 31.75% 2,985,705 34.34% -224,766 -1,441 REPYF $-2.700 -11.89% 100,100 29.04% 244,177 70.84% -144,077 -534 SPRD $-1.960 -11.56% 1,464,338 46.44% 1,645,660 52.19% -181,322 -925 LEI $-0.420 -19.18% 417,116 29.46% 444,238 31.37% -27,122 -646 NEWL $-0.410 -15.65% 73,651 37.99% 119,601 61.70% -45,950 -1,121Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows GTIM with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.40000 and a Friction Factor of -270 shares. That means that it only took 270 more shares of selling than buying to move GTIM lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
