April 12, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3510 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4389 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1809 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Miranda Technologies Inc (NYSE:MT), News Corp (NASDAQ:NWS), EMC CORPORATION (NYSE:EMC), Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F), ALCATEL-LUCENT-SPONSORED ADR (NYSE:ALU), ANGLO AMERICAN PLC-UNSP ADR (OTC:AAUKY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MT $0.810 4.64% 2,300,522 20.80% 3,750,222 33.90% -1,449,700 Abnormal
  NWS $0.570 2.98% 987,947 12.89% 6,677,115 87.09% -5,689,168 Abnormal
  EMC $0.600 2.10% 4,193,306 23.26% 6,161,960 34.18% -1,968,654 Abnormal
  F $0.180 1.51% 7,932,704 29.51% 10,028,624 37.31% -2,095,920 Abnormal
  ALU $0.030 1.23% 3,709,216 24.53% 6,153,348 40.69% -2,444,132 Abnormal
  AAUKY $0.640 3.65% 2,107,259 28.01% 5,209,492 69.24% -3,102,233 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Thursday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MT with 1,449,700 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.81000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
