April 11, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3668 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3921 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1991 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Wednesday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. MICRON TECHNOLOGY INC (NASDAQ:MU), APPLE INC (NASDAQ:AAPL), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), ACTIVISION BLIZZARD INC (NASDAQ:ATVI), IKANOS COMMUNICATIONS INC (NASDAQ:IKAN), ARGUS METALS CORP (OTC:ARGXF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  MU $-0.100 -1.40% 10,145,290 45.94% 11,760,595 53.26% -1,615,305 -161,531
  AAPL $-2.280 -0.36% 11,030,245 44.67% 13,526,463 54.78% -2,496,218 -10,948
  MSFT $-0.090 -0.29% 19,921,310 46.75% 22,514,844 52.84% -2,593,534 -288,170
  ATVI $-0.010 -0.08% 3,866,607 42.51% 5,227,377 57.47% -1,360,770 -1,360,770
  IKAN $-0.020 -2.86% 46,121 2.33% 1,930,240 97.67% -1,884,119 -942,060
  ARGXF $-0.011 -18.10% 105,200 6.14% 1,607,500 93.86% -1,502,300 -1,430,762
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MU down $-0.10000 with a Friction Factor of -161,531 and a Net Volume of -1,615,305. That means that it takes 161,531 more shares of selling than buying to drop MU by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
