April 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3665 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1507 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4526 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. GLOBAL TECH APPLI (NASDAQ:GAI), GOOD TIMES RESTAURANTS INC (NASDAQ:GTIM), IBIO INC (AMEX:IBIO), AOL INC (NYSE:AOL), THT HEAT TRANSFER TECHNOLOGY (OTC:THTI), VRINGO INC (AMEX:VRNG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction GAI $3.580 68.71% 131,652 50.56% 126,933 48.75% 4,719 13 GTIM $0.240 21.62% 44,020 58.50% 31,223 41.50% 12,797 533 IBIO $0.300 21.91% 529,828 37.11% 372,470 26.09% 157,358 5,245 AOL $7.960 43.21% 8,662,520 33.41% 8,350,466 32.21% 312,054 392 THTI $0.370 22.42% 615,681 58.93% 421,147 40.31% 194,534 5,258 VRNG $0.670 25.19% 4,278,427 37.11% 4,221,720 36.62% 56,707 846Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows GAI with a dollar gain Monday of $3.58000 and a Friction Factor of 13 shares. That means that it only took 13 more shares of buying than selling to move GAI higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
