April 5, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3853 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2620 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2970 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. GABRIEL RESOURCES LTD (OTC:GBRRF), RECON TECHNOLOGY LTD (NASDAQ:RCON), SMARTHEAT INC (NASDAQ:HEAT), LIHUA INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:LIWA), THT HEAT TRANSFER TECHNOLOGY (OTC:THTI), MERU NETWORKS INC (NASDAQ:MERU). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  GBRRF $-1.060 -23.30% 25,900 15.74% 72,250 43.92% -46,350 -437
  RCON $-0.830 -26.52% 297,378 42.98% 388,997 56.22% -91,619 -1,104
  HEAT $-1.380 -17.97% 1,322,875 47.21% 1,425,115 50.86% -102,240 -741
  LIWA $-0.870 -17.06% 281,410 42.13% 375,137 56.16% -93,727 -1,077
  THTI $-0.660 -28.57% 422,720 43.82% 537,507 55.72% -114,787 -1,739
  MERU $-1.160 -27.55% 307,890 44.29% 373,582 53.74% -65,692 -566
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GBRRF with a dollar loss Thursday of $-1.06000 and a Friction Factor of -437 shares. That means that it only took 437 more shares of selling than buying to move GBRRF lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
