April 5, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3853 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2620 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2970 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ALLOS THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:ALTH), FIRST UNITED CORP (NASDAQ:FUNC), GOOD TIMES RESTAURANTS INC (NASDAQ:GTIM), CHINA RECYCLING ENERGY CORP (NASDAQ:CREG), SHENGKAI INNOVATIONS INC (NASDAQ:VALV), OSSEN INNOVATION CO-SPON ADR (NASDAQ:OSN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ALTH $0.380 26.57% 41,304,549 50.10% 41,143,148 49.90% 161,401 4,247 FUNC $1.400 22.76% 65,144 46.72% 64,326 46.14% 818 6 GTIM $0.210 23.33% 54,995 57.06% 40,790 42.32% 14,205 676 CREG $0.580 39.55% 993,514 48.56% 991,605 48.47% 1,909 33 VALV $0.450 39.47% 2,551,497 54.56% 2,119,740 45.33% 431,757 9,595 OSN $0.250 22.25% 68,334 59.51% 46,491 40.49% 21,843 874Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ALTH with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.38000 and a Friction Factor of 4,247 shares. That means that it only took 4,247 more shares of buying than selling to move ALTH higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
