April 2, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3582 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3870 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2113 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSE:XLY), BIOMED REALTY TRUST INC (NYSE:BMR), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), Vasco Data Security International Inc (NASDAQ:VDSI), Ford Motor Co (NYSE:F), (OTC:GTRL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  XLY $0.160 0.35% 2,028,322 18.13% 4,056,994 36.26% -2,028,672 Abnormal
  BMR $0.340 1.79% 892,326 17.42% 2,682,735 52.36% -1,790,409 Abnormal
  S $0.020 0.70% 9,023,670 30.25% 13,228,153 44.35% -4,204,483 Abnormal
  VDSI $0.010 0.09% 963,669 19.93% 3,868,872 80.02% -2,905,203 Abnormal
  F $0.140 1.16% 12,558,474 28.70% 14,400,663 32.91% -1,842,189 Abnormal
  GTRL $0.070 102.94% 7,411,947 38.19% 11,987,697 61.76% -4,575,750 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Monday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLY with 2,028,672 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.16000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
