Market Maker Surveillance Report. MBND, GRVY, ATEA, DHT, HIMX, NEWL, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Mar
March 27, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3600 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2364 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3464 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Multiband Corp (NASDAQ:MBND), Gravity Co Ltd (NASDAQ:GRVY), ASTEA INTL INC (NASDAQ:ATEA), DHT HOLDINGS INC (NYSE:DHT), HIMAX TECHNOLOGIES INC-ADR (NASDAQ:HIMX), NEWLEAD HOLDINGS LTD (NASDAQ:NEWL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MBND $-0.390 -11.75% 169,519 38.18% 273,645 61.64% -104,126 -2,670 GRVY $-0.510 -14.96% 385,968 42.64% 518,602 57.30% -132,634 -2,601 ATEA $-1.110 -20.15% 46,368 45.02% 56,620 54.98% -10,252 -92 DHT $-0.140 -12.17% 825,131 30.27% 897,647 32.94% -72,516 -5,180 HIMX $-0.250 -10.87% 414,295 40.89% 596,098 58.83% -181,803 -7,272 NEWL $-0.210 -12.96% 25,166 37.77% 37,463 56.23% -12,297 -586Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MBND with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.39000 and a Friction Factor of -2,670 shares. That means that it only took 2,670 more shares of selling than buying to move MBND lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
