On Tuesday there were 3600 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2364 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3464 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), AT&T INC (NYSE:T), VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS INC (NYSE:VZ), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), YAHOO! INC (NASDAQ:YHOO), KKR & CO LP (NYSE:KKR). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BAC $-0.350 -3.52% 89,083,082 35.74% 87,056,264 34.93% 2,026,818 Abnormal T $-0.180 -0.57% 10,139,397 36.33% 8,055,168 28.87% 2,084,229 Abnormal VZ $-0.590 -1.50% 7,900,269 36.44% 6,324,351 29.17% 1,575,918 Abnormal S $-0.020 -0.70% 13,249,610 36.44% 11,671,018 32.10% 1,578,592 Abnormal YHOO $-0.070 -0.45% 6,797,001 57.16% 5,014,015 42.17% 1,782,986 Abnormal KKR $-0.060 -0.41% 4,316,594 80.25% 616,044 11.45% 3,700,550 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BAC with 2,026,818 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.35000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
