March 26, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3557 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4179 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2010 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. PSIVIDA CORP (NASDAQ:PSDV), SIGA Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SIGA), NETWORK EQUIPMENT TECH INC (NASDAQ:NWK), ARENA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ARNA), OPNEXT INC (NASDAQ:OPXT), AFRICA OIL CORP (OTC:AOIFF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PSDV $0.280 17.39% 73,892 64.79% 40,158 35.21% 33,734 1,205
  SIGA $0.910 33.70% 1,531,766 52.27% 1,397,739 47.70% 134,027 1,473
  NWK $0.200 20.71% 121,753 66.75% 76,660 42.03% 45,093 2,255
  ARNA $0.590 24.48% 30,398,462 51.90% 28,041,368 47.88% 2,357,094 39,951
  OPXT $0.730 66.97% 288,947 53.07% 255,527 46.93% 33,420 458
  AOIFF $1.000 42.19% 131,163 34.06% 122,195 31.73% 8,968 90
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PSDV with a dollar gain Monday of $0.28000 and a Friction Factor of 1,205 shares. That means that it only took 1,205 more shares of buying than selling to move PSDV higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
