March 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3691 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3704 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2175 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. PARKERVISION INC (NASDAQ:PRKR), OVERLAND STORAGE INC (NASDAQ:OVRL), GIGAMEDIA LTD (NASDAQ:GIGM), GlobalSCAPE Inc (AMEX:GSB), (OTC:GDVXF), (AMEX:BONE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  PRKR $-0.090 -7.96% 135,477 42.34% 184,518 57.66% -49,041 -5,449
  OVRL $-0.300 -13.04% 248,606 36.57% 429,396 63.16% -180,790 -6,026
  GIGM $-0.150 -10.27% 283,031 41.78% 393,332 58.07% -110,301 -7,353
  GSB $-0.380 -15.97% 34,570 11.81% 95,446 32.60% -60,876 -1,602
  GDVXF $-0.137 -8.35% 32,717 24.24% 66,000 48.90% -33,283 -2,429
  BONE $-0.870 -25.82% 497,448 23.63% 634,988 30.16% -137,540 -1,581
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PRKR with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.09000 and a Friction Factor of -5,449 shares. That means that it only took 5,449 more shares of selling than buying to move PRKR lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
