March 19, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3770 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3620 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2443 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SMF Energy Corp (NASDAQ:FUEL), MEMSIC INC (NASDAQ:MEMS), WPCS INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:WPCS), RENESOLA LTD-ADR (NYSE:SOL), NANOSPHERE INC (NASDAQ:NSPH), (OTC:GSFVF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  FUEL $-0.170 -11.56% 809,153 38.52% 1,291,358 61.48% -482,205 -28,365
  MEMS $-0.640 -12.31% 216,637 41.50% 302,301 57.90% -85,664 -1,339
  WPCS $-0.300 -18.40% 70,548 48.36% 75,337 51.64% -4,789 -160
  SOL $-0.350 -12.46% 349,909 34.66% 384,692 38.10% -34,783 -994
  NSPH $-0.410 -22.28% 55,242 21.68% 199,606 78.32% -144,364 -3,521
  GSFVF $-0.844 -10.89% 78,170 17.16% 143,400 31.48% -65,230 -773
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FUEL with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.17000 and a Friction Factor of -28,365 shares. That means that it only took 28,365 more shares of selling than buying to move FUEL lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
