March 14, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3558 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1893 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4329 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BP PLC-SPONS ADR (NYSE:BP), KRAFT FOODS INC-CLASS A (NYSE:KFT), PROCTER & GAMBLE CO/THE (NYSE:PG), INTEL CORPORATION (NASDAQ:INTC), BANCO SANTANDER BRASIL-ADS (NYSE:BSBR), American Capital Agency Corp (NASDAQ:AGNC). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BP $-0.390 -0.82% 3,373,377 40.92% 2,002,437 24.29% 1,370,940 Abnormal KFT $-0.350 -0.91% 3,503,162 43.75% 2,062,158 25.75% 1,441,004 Abnormal PG $-0.050 -0.07% 3,458,314 42.93% 1,783,031 22.13% 1,675,283 Abnormal INTC $-0.090 -0.33% 28,189,241 60.35% 20,271,770 43.40% 7,917,471 Abnormal BSBR $-0.090 -0.86% 3,315,768 37.42% 1,771,676 19.99% 1,544,092 Abnormal AGNC $-0.450 -1.51% 6,868,804 57.71% 5,016,530 42.15% 1,852,274 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BP with 1,370,940 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.39000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
