March 14, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3558 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1893 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4329 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. DELL INC (NASDAQ:DELL), BANK OF AMERICA CORPORATION (NYSE:BAC), GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY (NYSE:GE), Synovus Financial Corp (NYSE:SNV), YAHOO! INC (NASDAQ:YHOO), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DELL $0.170 0.99% 9,092,040 46.08% 10,859,871 55.04% -1,767,831 Abnormal
  BAC $0.360 4.24% 166,197,788 34.16% 168,292,193 34.59% -2,094,405 Abnormal
  GE $0.200 1.02% 19,015,448 26.69% 25,021,336 35.12% -6,005,888 Abnormal
  SNV $0.100 5.10% 5,302,783 26.18% 8,338,621 41.17% -3,035,838 Abnormal
  YHOO $0.030 0.21% 7,385,279 50.13% 8,647,875 58.71% -1,262,596 Abnormal
  MSFT $0.060 0.18% 21,046,531 50.14% 23,848,773 56.81% -2,802,242 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Wednesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DELL with 1,767,831 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.17000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
