Market Maker Surveillance Report. PFE, BSX, CSCO, CHL, MSFT, ITUB, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Friday, March 9th 2012
March 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3599 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3806 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2088 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), BOSTON SCIENTIFIC CORP (NYSE:BSX), CISCO SYSTEMS INCORPORATED (NASDAQ:CSCO), CHINA MOBILE LTD-SPON ADR (NYSE:CHL), MICROSOFT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:MSFT), Itau Unibanco Holding SA (NYSE:ITUB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction PFE $0.030 0.12% 9,627,513 24.52% 13,792,837 35.13% -4,165,324 Abnormal BSX $0.020 0.34% 3,420,370 24.97% 5,778,969 42.19% -2,358,599 Abnormal CSCO $0.160 0.81% 12,729,399 46.40% 14,501,470 52.86% -1,772,071 Abnormal CHL $2.540 4.83% 774,900 15.86% 3,126,802 63.98% -2,351,902 Abnormal MSFT $0.010 0.02% 17,060,420 47.32% 18,846,557 52.28% -1,786,137 Abnormal ITUB $0.010 0.05% 6,905,546 25.86% 9,337,075 34.97% -2,431,529 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows PFE with 4,165,324 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.03000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
