March 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 3599 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3806 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2088 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. DELCATH SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:DCTH), Omega Protein Corp (NYSE:OME), DENISON MINES CORP (AMEX:DNN), SANDSPRING RESOURCES LTD (OTC:SSPXF), BODY CENTRAL CORP (NASDAQ:BODY), ZOGENIX INC (NASDAQ:ZGNX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  DCTH $-0.390 -10.13% 651,972 46.93% 735,693 52.96% -83,721 -2,147
  OME $-0.870 -10.21% 126,099 31.25% 135,748 33.65% -9,649 -111
  DNN $-0.160 -9.30% 757,503 24.83% 1,100,379 36.06% -342,876 -21,430
  SSPXF $-0.119 -10.00% 52,116 27.65% 86,422 45.85% -34,306 -2,883
  BODY $-2.480 -8.65% 581,987 46.50% 644,263 51.47% -62,276 -251
  ZGNX $-0.440 -17.67% 893,979 45.83% 1,056,390 54.16% -162,411 -3,691
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DCTH with a dollar loss Friday of $-0.39000 and a Friction Factor of -2,147 shares. That means that it only took 2,147 more shares of selling than buying to move DCTH lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
