March 7, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 3634 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3963 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1911 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. AGENUS INC (NASDAQ:AGEN), BON-TON STORES INC/THE (NASDAQ:BONT), MAGNETEK INC (NYSE:MAG), IBIO INC (AMEX:IBIO), WIZZARD SOFTWARE CORP (AMEX:WZE), IMRIS INC (NASDAQ:IMRS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
  AGEN $0.730 19.41% 553,130 54.91% 453,906 45.06% 99,224 1,359
  BONT $1.050 20.00% 1,439,735 54.82% 1,162,043 44.24% 277,692 2,645
  MAG $3.460 24.13% 117,229 70.14% 42,586 25.48% 74,643 216
  IBIO $0.320 35.96% 160,654 28.26% 143,056 25.16% 17,598 550
  WZE $0.330 15.94% 58,594 43.81% 41,221 30.82% 17,373 526
  IMRS $0.440 16.48% 155,340 70.98% 63,219 28.89% 92,121 2,094
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AGEN with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.73000 and a Friction Factor of 1,359 shares. That means that it only took 1,359 more shares of buying than selling to move AGEN higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
