Market Maker Surveillance Report. BVSN, USHS, DATE, ONTY, FFN, ZLTQ, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Mar
March 6, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3395 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1074 companies with positive Friction Factors and 5264 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BROADVISION INC (NASDAQ:BVSN), US Home Systems Inc (NASDAQ:USHS), DATA TECH CORP (NASDAQ:DATE), Oncothyreon Inc (NASDAQ:ONTY), (NASDAQ:FFN), (NASDAQ:ZLTQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BVSN $-7.150 -14.10% 854,228 43.48% 1,035,676 52.72% -181,448 -254 USHS $-1.840 -15.12% 321,310 46.34% 362,831 52.32% -41,521 -226 DATE $-1.030 -14.86% 433,457 47.14% 484,828 52.72% -51,371 -499 ONTY $-3.350 -39.83% 7,267,048 47.68% 7,853,210 51.52% -586,162 -1,750 FFN $-0.240 -15.38% 409,471 46.44% 471,331 53.45% -61,860 -2,578 ZLTQ $-3.610 -32.46% 1,052,525 46.65% 1,174,373 52.05% -121,848 -338Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BVSN with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-7.15000 and a Friction Factor of -254 shares. That means that it only took 254 more shares of selling than buying to move BVSN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
