Market Maker Surveillance Report. ARCI, SYKE, BBX, GENE, YRCW, DSLV, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Feb
February 28, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3802 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3007 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3087 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. APPLIANCE RECYCLING CTRS AMR (NASDAQ:ARCI), SYKES ENTERPRISES INC (NASDAQ:SYKE), BANKATLANTIC BANCORP INC-A (NYSE:BBX), Genetic Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ:GENE), YRC WORLDWIDE INC (NASDAQ:YRCW), (NYSE:DSLV). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ARCI $-0.760 -12.08% 48,092 41.49% 64,774 55.89% -16,682 -220 SYKE $-2.850 -16.64% 357,264 43.13% 464,115 56.03% -106,851 -375 BBX $-0.490 -17.50% 91,106 25.30% 143,505 39.86% -52,399 -1,069 GENE $-0.610 -16.14% 155,978 45.42% 187,256 54.52% -31,278 -513 YRCW $-1.530 -12.92% 116,965 41.06% 162,449 57.03% -45,484 -297 DSLV $-3.420 -12.89% 44,485 25.98% 66,109 38.61% -21,624 -63Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ARCI with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.76000 and a Friction Factor of -220 shares. That means that it only took 220 more shares of selling than buying to move ARCI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
