February 27, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 4004 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2654 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3212 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. Microvision Inc (NASDAQ:MVIS), DENDREON CORP (NASDAQ:DNDN), Sanpaolo Imi Spa Ads (NASDAQ:IMI), BALCHEM CORP (NASDAQ:BCPC), SNAP INTERACTIVE INC (OTCBB:STVI), (OTC:BELDF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     MVIS $-0.590 -15.05% 202,581 38.71% 320,697 61.27% -118,116 -2,002
     DNDN $-3.020 -20.32% 18,836,395 48.50% 19,509,171 50.24% -672,776 -2,228
     IMI $-1.110 -14.92% 171,067 37.29% 262,059 57.13% -90,992 -820
     BCPC $-6.590 -18.49% 906,249 47.21% 996,823 51.93% -90,574 -137
     STVI $-0.290 -15.68% 88,494 18.85% 148,496 31.63% -60,002 -2,069
     BELDF $-1.283 -49.54% 68,700 23.59% 90,500 31.08% -21,800 -170
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows MVIS with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.59000 and a Friction Factor of -2,002 shares. That means that it only took 2,002 more shares of selling than buying to move MVIS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
