February 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3633 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3960 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2209 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. FORWARD INDUSTRIES INC (NASDAQ:FORD), DYNAMICS RESEARCH CORP (NASDAQ:DRCO), YINGLI GREEN ENERGY HOLD-ADR (NYSE:YGE), POLYPORE INTERNATIONAL INC (NYSE:PPO), NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTC:NENE), ELEPHANT TALK COMMUNICATIONS (OTCBB:ETAK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     FORD $-0.410 -13.95% 78,098 38.66% 123,811 61.29% -45,713 -1,115
     DRCO $-1.290 -11.70% 59,040 33.24% 117,305 66.04% -58,265 -452
     YGE $-0.480 -11.09% 2,986,693 32.05% 3,537,842 37.96% -551,149 -11,482
     PPO $-5.060 -11.63% 2,754,183 32.09% 2,821,402 32.87% -67,219 -133
     NENE $-0.290 -13.43% 68,355 28.08% 87,608 35.99% -19,253 -664
     ETAK $-0.250 -10.42% 191,868 27.89% 287,119 41.73% -95,251 -3,810
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FORD with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.41000 and a Friction Factor of -1,115 shares. That means that it only took 1,115 more shares of selling than buying to move FORD lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
