February 23, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3633 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3960 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2209 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BROADVISION INC (NASDAQ:BVSN), SEARS HOLDINGS CORP (NASDAQ:SHLD), ONVIA INC (NASDAQ:ONVI), GREENHUNTER ENERGY INC (AMEX:GRH), Exterran Holdings Inc (NYSE:EXH), Smart Balance Inc (NASDAQ:SMBL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     BVSN $4.820 15.58% 274,811 60.07% 175,556 38.37% 99,255 206
     SHLD $10.120 19.43% 2,977,084 50.73% 2,794,740 47.62% 182,344 180
     ONVI $1.100 35.03% 265,692 44.79% 227,534 38.36% 38,158 347
     GRH $0.830 40.29% 262,229 31.19% 213,910 25.44% 48,319 582
     EXH $2.330 19.24% 1,346,744 32.18% 1,095,375 26.17% 251,369 1,079
     SMBL $1.250 22.15% 929,367 50.05% 915,505 49.30% 13,862 111
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BVSN with a dollar gain Thursday of $4.82000 and a Friction Factor of 206 shares. That means that it only took 206 more shares of buying than selling to move BVSN higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
