On Wednesday there were 3651 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2396 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3469 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction THLD $1.010 20.16% 8,580,995 52.03% 7,833,900 47.50% 747,095 7,397 HSTM $5.210 30.05% 1,029,457 57.00% 763,339 42.27% 266,118 511 KONG $0.920 21.70% 525,755 54.34% 422,020 43.62% 103,735 1,128 FIRE $9.360 26.13% 2,825,425 50.46% 2,698,854 48.20% 126,571 135 TOPS $0.690 21.77% 247,348 51.01% 227,640 46.94% 19,708 286 NOAH $1.820 29.64% 226,329 27.50% 211,424 25.69% 14,905 82Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows THLD with a dollar gain Wednesday of $1.01000 and a Friction Factor of 7,397 shares. That means that it only took 7,397 more shares of buying than selling to move THLD higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
