Market Maker Surveillance Report. SAH, MFA, WU, FNMAS, MMI, QQQ, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Tuesday, February 14th 20
February 14, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3680 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2181 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3823 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. SONIC AUTOMOTIVE, INC. (NYSE:SAH), MFA FINANCIAL INCORPORATED (NYSE:MFA), WESTERN UNION COMPANY (THE) (NYSE:WU), Federal National Mortgage Association Fannie Mae (OTC:FNMAS), MOTOROLA MOBILITY HOLDINGS I (NYSE:MMI), (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction SAH $0.330 1.88% 149,786 9.31% 1,131,017 70.26% -981,231 Abnormal MFA $0.020 0.21% 996,570 21.12% 2,879,542 61.03% -1,882,972 Abnormal WU $0.040 0.23% 2,498,417 23.82% 3,467,764 33.06% -969,347 Abnormal FNMAS $0.020 1.21% 183,965 6.83% 2,507,845 93.14% -2,323,880 Abnormal MMI $0.040 0.10% 5,365,112 26.45% 7,621,528 37.58% -2,256,416 Abnormal QQQ $0.200 0.32% 22,514,152 44.04% 26,598,687 52.04% -4,084,535 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows SAH with 981,231 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.33000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
