Market Maker Surveillance Report. TBAC, NSSC, DEXO, TTHI, OXBT, HMNC, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Monday, Feb
February 13, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3666 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4071 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2156 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. TANDY BRANDS ACCESSORIES INC (NASDAQ:TBAC), NAPCO SECURITY TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:NSSC), DEX ONE CORP (NYSE:DEXO), TRANSITION THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:TTHI), OXYGEN BIOTHERAPEUTICS INC (OTC:OXBT), (OTCBB:HMNC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TBAC $-0.280 -15.38% 143,732 46.15% 163,602 52.53% -19,870 -710 NSSC $-0.330 -11.74% 91,503 41.86% 125,960 57.62% -34,457 -1,044 DEXO $-0.260 -13.20% 444,194 33.58% 536,428 40.56% -92,234 -3,547 TTHI $-0.250 -12.82% 36,162 30.40% 82,791 69.60% -46,629 -1,865 OXBT $-0.720 -23.68% 63,127 39.32% 96,765 60.27% -33,638 -467 HMNC $-0.200 -14.29% 51,012 41.66% 71,425 58.34% -20,413 -1,021Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TBAC with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.28000 and a Friction Factor of -710 shares. That means that it only took 710 more shares of selling than buying to move TBAC lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
