February 9, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 3756 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2911 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3108 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Thursday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CHIMERA INVESTMENT CORP (NYSE:CIM), JPMORGAN CHASE & CO. (NYSE:JPM), CAREFUSION CORP (NYSE:CFN), A123 SYSTEMS, INCORPORATION (NASDAQ:AONE), ALCATEL-LUCENT-SPONSORED ADR (NYSE:ALU), FRONTIER COMMUNICATIONS CORP (NYSE:FTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

     JPM $-0.390 -1.02% 7,888,994 28.75% 9,701,149 35.35% -1,812,155 -46,466
     CFN $-0.110 -0.44% 860,236 15.73% 3,361,684 61.45% -2,501,448 -227,404
     AONE $-0.450 -18.12% 5,669,624 42.98% 7,522,191 57.02% -1,852,567 -41,168
     ALU $-0.030 -1.54% 7,310,216 28.89% 10,069,933 39.79% -2,759,717 -919,906
     FTR $-0.120 -2.82% 9,056,286 45.37% 10,885,328 54.54% -1,829,042 -152,420
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CIM down $-0.08000 with a Friction Factor of -317,993 and a Net Volume of -2,543,945. That means that it takes 317,993 more shares of selling than buying to drop CIM by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
