February 7, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3975 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3143 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2779 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BROADVISION INC (NASDAQ:BVSN), SPANISH BROADCASTING SYS-A (NASDAQ:SBSA), Pro-Dex Inc (NASDAQ:PDEX), TEEKAY TANKERS LTD-CLASS A (NYSE:TNK), MUSTANG ALLIANCES INC (OTC:MSTG), (NASDAQ:SVVC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     BVSN $-6.850 -17.36% 955,750 44.54% 1,095,065 51.04% -139,315 -203
     SBSA $-0.650 -11.73% 56,148 36.87% 95,833 62.93% -39,685 -611
     PDEX $-0.490 -17.26% 36,153 47.44% 38,560 50.60% -2,407 -49
     TNK $-0.590 -12.45% 321,246 31.67% 384,597 37.91% -63,351 -1,074
     MSTG $-0.270 -18.62% 1,022,457 42.34% 1,193,027 49.40% -170,570 -6,317
     SVVC $-3.420 -13.02% 47,375 34.52% 83,971 61.19% -36,596 -107
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BVSN with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-6.85000 and a Friction Factor of -203 shares. That means that it only took 203 more shares of selling than buying to move BVSN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
