February 6, 2012 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3923 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2557 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3336 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CHINA FINANCE ONLINE CO-ADR (NASDAQ:JRJC), CPI CORP (NYSE:CPY), Changyou.com Ltd (NASDAQ:CYOU), ROMARCO MINERALS INC (OTC:RTRAF), VRINGO INC (AMEX:VRNG), (OTC:HREEF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     JRJC $-0.220 -9.82% 66,671 39.62% 89,289 53.07% -22,618 -1,028
     CPY $-0.200 -12.58% 352,833 33.65% 424,585 40.49% -71,752 -3,588
     CYOU $-3.780 -12.99% 852,853 45.23% 1,021,206 54.16% -168,353 -445
     RTRAF $-0.120 -9.37% 42,400 31.11% 93,900 68.89% -51,500 -4,295
     VRNG $-0.180 -10.23% 1,362,113 28.28% 1,745,546 36.24% -383,433 -21,302
     HREEF $-0.130 -9.55% 89,688 27.67% 146,564 45.22% -56,876 -4,378
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows JRJC with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.22000 and a Friction Factor of -1,028 shares. That means that it only took 1,028 more shares of selling than buying to move JRJC lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
