November 14, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 3613 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1801 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4362 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. CHINA NORTH EAST PETROLEUM (AMEX:NEP), BLUEGREEN CORP (NYSE:BXG), NETLIST INC (NASDAQ:NLST), GENERAL STEEL HOLDINGS INC (NYSE:GSI), CHINA SHEN ZHOU MINING & RES (AMEX:SHZ), BYD CO LTD-UNSPONSORED ADR (OTC:BYDDY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction NEP $0.330 13.41% 86,547 35.21% 68,213 27.75% 18,334 556 BXG $0.970 47.55% 490,214 29.71% 346,908 21.02% 143,306 1,477 NLST $0.710 36.98% 732,595 59.60% 496,541 40.40% 236,054 3,325 GSI $0.130 10.32% 46,598 53.30% 27,650 31.63% 18,948 1,458 SHZ $0.400 18.43% 639,043 35.71% 543,399 30.36% 95,644 2,391 BYDDY $0.790 18.76% 130,255 33.50% 114,950 29.57% 15,305 194Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows NEP with a dollar gain Monday of $0.33000 and a Friction Factor of 556 shares. That means that it only took 556 more shares of buying than selling to move NEP higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
