Market Maker Surveillance Report. DVAX, FLWS, DRRX, AATI, CISG, EORBF, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Monday, Se
September 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 1609 companies with "abnormal" market making, 592 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1678 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. DYNAVAX TECHNOLOGIES CORP (NASDAQ:DVAX), 1-800-FLOWERS.COM INC-CL A (NASDAQ:FLWS), DURECT CORPORATION (NASDAQ:DRRX), ADVANCED ANALOGIC TECHNOLOGI (NASDAQ:AATI), CNINSURE INC-ADR (NASDAQ:CISG), (OTC:EORBF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction DVAX $-0.250 -10.29% 575,106 38.57% 915,847 61.43% -340,741 -13,630 FLWS $-0.250 -9.73% 33,147 36.56% 57,525 63.44% -24,378 -975 DRRX $-0.170 -9.09% 98,334 48.35% 105,044 51.65% -6,710 -395 AATI $-0.700 -14.99% 1,916,404 38.02% 2,357,294 46.77% -440,890 -6,298 CISG $-1.430 -16.34% 831,158 40.11% 1,239,524 59.82% -408,366 -2,856 EORBF $-0.243 -11.90% 30,300 23.49% 97,200 75.35% -66,900 -2,755Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows DVAX with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.25000 and a Friction Factor of -13,630 shares. That means that it only took 13,630 more shares of selling than buying to move DVAX lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
